Why would Dracula need to hire a librarian?

I saw it last night for the first and I couldn't help but ask my husband during the whole movie: why would
Dracula want to hire a librarian? It does not make sense. Did he put a notice in the newspaper? I really liked the film but that is the biggest thing that didn't make sense!

I was going with it as a glorified accountant. Someone tasked with getting the books in order in every sense of the phrase.
Harker has a similar occupation in most Dracula stories, although this is the first time I heard it described as librarian.

I have wondered the same thing. And the Count must have had a LOT of books if he needed them cataloged! Today he'd just use his Kindle....

Dracula is up all night every night. Besides biting people and drinking blood, he liked to read. Remember, there was no TV at this time

Over the centuries Dracula has accumulated a collection of books numbering several thousand. He wants someone to organize and catalogue them.

Trying to pass as human. As a nobleman he’s expected to have some staff.
