The Blu-ray looks AMAZING!

Just that...

Last night I watched the new UK release that has been fully restored; the picture quality was absolutely stunning! The colours are VERY rich, deep, and vibrant. One of the best looking Blu-rays of a film from that time that I have ever seen

Just LOVELY!

I have over 5000 films, many of them very rare and OOP. I LOVE to trade. PLEASE ASK!

I'm still waiting for the Region 1 Blu Ray to be released in Canada. I understand the Blu Ray has some extra footage in it as well.

btw; I wrote a short essay on Horror of Dracula.

Dracula has four distinct traits: deceiver, seducer, thief, and destroyer. This characterization makes him a Satan figure—the Devil in human form.

Very interesting; I fully agree; that is the way his character has always struck me as a full-on representation of Satan, or at least certainly the embodiment of Evil, with only the power of God having any way of defeating him. I've always enjoyed that aspect of the Vampire mythology and I am always kind of disappointed when they 'modernize' the Vampire story and omit those things.

Hey FWIW I have quite a large collection of movies, both Blu-rays and DVDs and MANY other non-commercially available titles. So, if you would like a Region free copy of the UK Blu-ray, I am always happy to trade or whatever. If you'd like to see a list of my films, please feel free to send me an e'mail; I THINK my e'mail address is listed here in my profile, but just in case it is: '[email protected]' That way if you wish, I can send you my movie lists by way of reply.

Cheers!

I finally got around to getting a Blu-Ray player just a couple weeks ago. I have yet to buy any Blu-Ray discs to go with it though since there were no good ones at the store. Since this is one of my favorite films, you make it sound like it would be worthwhile as my first Blu-Ray purchase. I'll keep it in mind.

Hey, that's great! :)

Keep in mind though, that this particular Blu-ray is from the UK and is likely Region 'B' locked (just in case you are in the U.S. or in a Region 'A' area...)

If you are interested in finding the best rated quality Blu-rays, this is a good reference link to have:

I was under the impression that a Blu-Ray was also released here in the U.S. I went to Amazon and was shocked to see that it hasn't. What on Earth could they possibly be waiting on? It's not like this is some obscure indie horror movie that only 6 people have heard of. This is a classic in every sense of the word. Oh well, there's still time I suppose.

reply

Well, it likely would eventually be released here too I would think.

Note my comment above if you are interested or want anything. I can pretty much provide any film that I have Region free.

Any announcements of a North American release?

reply

I have nothing official, but blu ray review forums say that Warner Bros. will release it in the fall of 2015.

reply

You have a link to that, bro?

A bit blue but colors and details of scenery are breathtakingly beautiful.

Yeah, there were some pretty heavy discussions about the colour timing. Some who were used to the old DVD presentation didn't like the newer, somewhat bluer colour timing, but others, including myself REALLY liked it!

To me, it really lends itself a LOT more to being a Dark, Gothic Horror story, as opposed to the more bright, colourful look that it had on previous incarnations. Just my take on it...
