Reese Witherspoon as Maggie? No way. And Paul Walker as Brick? I don't think that's a good choice either. He may embody the very idea of what an athlete is supposed to look like, but the man is a horrible actor. I do however, like your other choices.

reply

well, Reese is a very beautiful woman and she is a strong actress so I see her being sexy, wanting love, and emotional. Paul Walker, I do see potential in him and I think a script as strong as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof could unlock that potential.

I seriously doubt that Jolie/Pitt would be doing themselves any favour in letting themselves be cast as Taylor/Newman look-a-likes.

reply

i died a little inside @ Paul Walker as Brick. Horrid actor.

reply

I think Ryan Gosling would make a great Brick and perhaps a no-name for the part of Maggie. I don't know.

reply

I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of Ryan Gosling playing Brick. Now there's some cool hotness going on. Sadly, most young actresses these days don't make me instantly think "Maggie". Either they're not very talented or have been in too many movies and have lost appeal and mystery.

reply

Just because Gosling sleepwalks through most of his parts, doesn't mean he'd make a good Brick. Brick is a frozen-up, emotionally paralysed character, but he isn't absent.

I usually hate these "my dream cast for a remake" threads, but I have to say, I would LOVE to see Gena Rowlands doing Tennessee Williams. Reese Witherspoon isn't a very good choice, though: she's talented and beautiful but not the "desperate sexpot" type by any means, and that's what is needed for Maggie. John Hurt is all wrong, and Edward Norton would be a much better choice for Brick than for Gooper (though he wouldn't be my choice). And finally, Paul Walker would be out of his league, though the looks are about right.

This is very good with a few exceptions

Maggie; Ashley Judd (Jolie can not act)
Brick: McConaughey first, Ruffalo second ( don't know the others)
Big Daddy: Add Wilford Brimley to the possibilitys
Gooper: Spacey or one of the Baldwins
Big Momma Genna Rowlands
Mae: I can't think of anyone right now

I don't know, I think Angelina Jolie would make a great Maggie. She has the look, she transmits sexuality, and she's an Oscar winner.
Brick as Matthew McConaughey is actually surpringly accurate too, I definitely see him acting cold and distant.
Big Daddy, John Goodman.
Gooper, I don't know.
Big Momma, Genna Rowlands
Mae: Reese W. seems like she can play the whiny, pregnant woman to perfection.

reply

I definitely agree with you on Ashley Judd. But I do think that Jolie can act as well. But Judd is better for Maggie!

'Maggie the Cat': Megan Fox

Brick Pollitt: Leonardo DiCaprio

'Big Daddy': Ray Winstone

'Gooper': Chris O'Donnell

'Big Momma': Melanie Griffith

Mae Flynn Pollitt: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Skipper: Djimon Hounsou

reply

leonardo di caprio as brick and witherspoon as maggie

reply

Scarlett Johansson as Maggie (think Match Point)
Patrick Wilson as Brick
Jeff Bridges as Big Daddy
Marcia Gay Harden as Big Momma
Julianne Moore as Mae
Paul Rudd as Gooper (he's almost a decade younger than she but it could work)

I agree with Matthew McConaughey as Brick.

As for Maggie - Christina Hendricks. But then again I'd love to see her in anything really.

ask the spokesperson, I don't have a brain

Gena Rowlends might have been a fine choice for Big Mama years ago (she's always reminded me of Kim Stanley, who played the part in an 1980's tv production) but she's too old now - Brick and Gooper would have to be played by actors in their mid forties or older with her as Big Mama.
