Ditto! I cannot understand why these folks continually try to "remake" an obvious movie classic, with performances delivered with dead-on perfection by the actors, and writing & directing wonderfully done. They must have enormous egos to think they can do better. Do they not understand we can see the fabulous original on TCM, or get the DVD/video? I love Alicia Keys as a singer, and applaud her efforts to grow. But, to really make your mark, Alicia, you must continue to be original. Hire a damned good writer and/or option a great story not yet made into a movie. Strive to CREATE a classic, not COPY or REMAKE a classic! Please!!!

And 5 years later.....

Can't say I'm NOT pleased we haven't seen it, but what happened?

reply

I hope this never happens.. it would be absolutely dreadful!!

Not every movie from old needs to be remade..good grief. Come up with new ideas. If you like BB&C so much come up with a witch love story of your own. Don't b0rk with a beautiful classic!

I pray this never comes to pass.

Are they going make this film with an all black cast? They tried that with the Honeymooners and the Wizard of Oz(The Wiz) both are crappy. If Raisin IN THE SUN was redone with an all white cast that would be stupid wouldn't it?

reply

NO NO NO!!!! They did a made for TV remake in 1976 and it was a disaster. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I did see on IMBD that there is a 2013 release for a remake. This movie is a classic,no one can replace the cast. There are too many remakes,I guess the writers in the entertainment industry no longer have any original ideas so they have to copy the past. They did a remake of "Rear Window",a flop, They did a remake of "Psycho" another flop, I can go on and on but you get the picture. I will admit that once in a while a remake is good, i.e. An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant which was a remake of "Love Affair" with Charles Boyer. Bell Book and Candle is so unique,I fear if they remake it, it will be 3D with a lot of CGI, part of the charm of the original movie is that all the magic was very subtle.
