Can't help but notice


Almost every opening shows scads of people walking the town, on the sidewalks, crossing the street, riding a horse, etc. These are tiny towns, not bustling cities. Always catches my eye and looks so phony and contrived. Wonder why they did it over and over?

Gunsmoke was the same way. Artistic license is my guess. Tv was only 25 + years old and the western was still popular. I'm not a writer, but a lifeless town would givecthe impression of a ghost town. Twilight Zone influenced me a lot as did Groucho, Liberace and Kaptain Kangaroo among other early tv shows. Boston Blackie. Flash Gordon series.

The "logical" explanation is that towns exist for a reason -- they're centers of commerce (of all sorts). Ergo...
