Strange Doors

I just watched "Female of the Species" from season 1, and noticed that the entry door from the common hallway into Mike Nelson's apartment opened outward, into the hallway. I figured that he lived in the same apartment building in L.A. where Walter Neff lived in 1938, before he went to the gas chamber for conspiring with Phyllis Dietrichson to murder her husband in "Double Indemnity". But then Nelson visited the home of the woman he was giving SCUBA lessons to and her entry door opened outward, too! What a bizarro world! By the next week's episode, "Mr. Guinea Pig", Mike had moved to a different apartment with a normal door that opened into his living room rather than out to the hallway. Phew, normal order restored.
