Trivia about the amphibious airplane they kept using

Watching Mike being flown away just in the nick of time before the sunken ship full of high explosives goes off, I notice the "N" registration number of the two-motor rescue airplane is N327. Even for a 1959 film that's a low number. Looking it up, this airplane has a history. Like some of the blonde actresses, this same plane appeared in five Sea Hunt episodes over seasons one, two, and three.

The 1939 Grumman G-21A "Goose" (N327, S/N 1051) used in SEA HUNT is better known as "Cutter's Goose" in the television series "Tales of the Gold Monkey" (1982-1983). It was originally purchased by Avalon Air Transport from Peruvian Air Force surplus. This airplane still flies and is the oldest surviving Goose left of 345 built.

On February 15, 2005, the aircraft was damaged during a forced landing and post-crash fire near Penn Yan Airport (PEO) in Yates County New York. The NTSB reported that the aircraft had been destroyed but the Goose was purchased in April 2005 and was restored by Sam Damico in Rochester New York.
