My memory has gotten foggy.. but I'll still go with it.. The opening shot of Nelson putting on that whole face mask at Marine land was NOT the original shot that opened the show.. It was of him by a dock.. putting on skin suit and hoisting his air tanks then walking down the dock stairs.. I remember this specifically cause (as a child) i though this new surprised opening was abit dooky... Also this is very vague.. but believe their was another opening theme .. similar to what they have but different.. Why they made these changes I could never understand.. I believe even in syndication they always show this opening.. so even if I didn't dream the whole thing.. it's lost forever.... .

Location Info.. Many shots by a boat dock was done at the Marineland of Pacific dock.. which doesn't exist anymore.. but you can tell by the background rock formation..

The closing shot was taken from a pier (that still exists) on the Isle of Catalina. @.83 miles nw of avalon... you can clearly see where the camera was stationed on the dock and the rock formations that come into view... boy took alot of work to find all this out. Few years ago I got into it.. and surprised by where they were really shot..
the exact location is: 33 22 29.96 N & 118 21 14.29 W
Boy the world was REALLY a different place back then.. well we'll all get old.. ha

That alternate beginning you're talking about sounds like one of the ENDINGS where he says "join us again next week for another exciting Sea Hunt, Huh?"

No... it was an opening....... There was... an alternate ending.. in later years they had a big strange looking white motor boat.. Could never figure out from it's decking design what it's specialty was.. nearly ??? 40+ ft long.. flush deck.. you'll see it in later episodes..

AS far as the 'original' opening.. well, I remember thinking .. "what the hell were they doing, the original had Mike puting on normal gear then they have him putting on a connected hose mask??"... but over the years. you remember the FORMER memory, then the memory of the former memory, on and on and after awhile you're not sure if it was a dream.. I'll got no proof at all.. by the time it was in syndication prob the 60's.. they never showed it.. wish i could find some evidence of it.. certainly someone in the field of tv archives probably knows how to access old records, scripts etc.. My only thought,( and it's not that good either) is that the one we see now, clearly, if you know, was shot right in Marineland, the metal diving mask hanging and the one that he dons. with long air hose .clearly are made for a worker to enter one of the deep pools.. the flag also.. but I'm really streching it.. why they did it. not that it wasn't Marineland.
