Just got the new dvd sets from Amazon. Excellent quality. Great show but something I didn't notice as a kid. This show really pushes exploitation of marine resources. Offshore drilling, mining, using fish finding technology etc. No question that the sea is there for human exploitation. I guess they just didn't see the flip side in the late 50s/early 60s, that all the development causes degradation to the marine environment from pollution to depleted fish populations. Now watching some of the episodes makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I grew up back then.. watching 'Sea Hunt'....
That's the way it was....
People were ignorant..
Every day at school we would pledge of alligence and sing 'America the beautuful', actually a beautiful tune...
They knew little of the oceans and of frogman...
Marine biology was a new science it wasn't till the 60's and on that it became 'wow we'.....
Last but not least... this was a kid's show... but one thing..
It aired after 'gunsmoke' at 10:30p at night.. with most families only having one tv and that usually in parents bedroom.. at least mine were,... That was kinda late for 10yr old kids.. but i guess things were already changing.

I know at least 1 episode includes the needless dropping of weight belts on the ocean floor. What a fabulous ocean, let's litter

Can't see that much has changed in the past 60 years -- except that people today (and I'm talking Republicans and Democrats) operate not from a basis of ignorance but from sheer self-interest with fracking, oil pipelines, unrestricted hunting everywhere ALL OK.

Yes, if the lobbyists and special interests who control the money that fuels both parties want something done, it will be done. The politicians nowadays just salute and do what they are told.

I just bought the Sea Hunt series and was relieved that I am not overwhelmed with Environmental crap. I like the show because they are not preaching the Environmental angle in every way they can. The pollution and environmental stuff is so overdone nowawdays that it detracts from shows that use it. No one watns dirty water or dirty air and I wish people would realize that. There is a balance that needs to happen. I am so thankful a person like Al Gore never became president. That guy was dangerous. He thoought he invented everything. He then went on to make millions off his environmental beliefs. He has no interest in the environment, he justs wants to be rich. He also apparently had no interest in staying married.
