Chuck Conners
Really was not that good of an actor - at least in the few episodes I've seen. Most of the time, he had a scowl on his face, but to show some emotion, he had a meaner scowl.

shareI always thought he was a fine actor. He could play good and bad guys equally well. Maybe it was more charisma than great acting skill on his part, but it worked.
No blah, blah, blah!
Chuck Connors was a great actor. Watch him in The Rifleman and then Branded and then watch him in his guest spot on the Adventures of Superman. Three totally different charcters that he played beautifully.
shareThe local PBS film club host always talks that way about Humphrey Bogart. Bogart?! Guess he only saw Maltese Falcon and Casablanca and never saw any of his other movies, not even African Queen. Bogart had a great range!
Don't assume an actor can't play a different character until you see him try.
You should watch Support Your Local Gunfighter some time. Chuck Connors walks into that movie scowling and leaves blithering. He had range.

Connors was a terrific actor. Lucas McCain and Buck Hannassey--a hero and a villain--are two of the best-played characters in the history of film westerns.
