Falls ...

I was just watching the episode "The Martinet", and was at the end part where Lucas shoots at the ground, to frighten the calvaryman's horse. Even tho it was a stuntman, it was clearly a BAD fall! I've always wondered, in these shows, how many stuntmen/women are accidentally, seriously injured in falls like these? In this particular fall, the man fell backwards, off a "rearing" horse, and landed almost straight on top of his head (which could have very easily broke his neck)! I also saw an episode of "Gunsmoke", where a women fell out of a wagon that lost a wheel (causing her fall), and also landed on her head! I can almost guarantee there was some very bad injuries, back in the day ... just wondering.
