Hello All,
This biting Work-Of-Art is a prime example of movie-making for grown-ups, with nary a four--or twelve--letter word in sight. Raging greed, ambition,
and cruelty are the true obscenities here. This film is a mirror held up to
American society, and friends---our reflection ain't too pretty.
Another, fairly recent film I'd include in this elite category;
"Path To War", (2002), directed by John Frankenheimer.
Minor points; one poster was confused by some bits of dialogue:
At J.J.'s table in "21", Sidney says, "A press agent is supposed to eat a columnist's dirt and call it MANNA" (as in the Biblical "Manna From Heaven".)
The poster thought he said "MANNERS".
Same scene, when J.J. sizes-up the Senator's bimbo, "The brains may be Jersey City, but the clothes are TRAYNE & NORELL." The poster didn't quite catch this rather obscure reference to a design house that was popular in the Eisenhower Era.
