Err..Same animation different things

In the animated one I saw when I was littler, the girls name was Yvette(I think) and the boys name was John, if I remember right.
It did not have that intro either, the one DVD that I got had an odd intro, different songs/voices and everything.

I was PO'd At K-mart because of this, for I liked the one I had on VHS much better, and because after Yvette leaves the Witche's place, there is a song and such, but on the DVD it cuts directly to the bird finding her.

Safe to say, I did not finish watching it.
DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT? =/ Fuu

One of the reviews for the film here on IMDB talks about this; there were apparently three english-language versions released, all with different and inferior soundtracks to the original.

I recommend buying the one with the original Russian soundtrack and English subtitles, which you can get over here:

One thing I liked better were the original English voices actors. If there's one in Russian then I would like to hear it.

I know exactly what you're talking about - the VHS of this that I had when I was a kid also used the names John and Yvette. I never even knew that this was originally a Russian film. And I remember that the movie was introduced by the Danish sandman character from Hans Christian Andersen's story, and he had the two umbrellas - the beautiful one for the good kids and the black one for the bad kids. Was that part in the DVD you found at K-mart?
