masina's performance was simply brilliant. I have never been so moved by such a subtle and comic performance from an actress. She reminded me alot of lucille ball in this movie. Her brilliant comic performance is full of depths of sadness and strength. This film will go down in my all time favorite list just because of her performance.

sharei have seen "La Strada" and thought it was an amazing film with superb performances. However, being that nights of cabiria was my first fellini film (and thus my first fellini experience) i must say that this film has had the most impact.
shareI loved this movie! She reminded me a lot of Amelie for some reason, not so much in her comic parts but in the ending especially i think the director of Amelie probably had this movie in mind.
sharei rented this from netflix and watched it last night. Im not big on foreign films but the plot sounded interesting so i thought i would give it a try. Unforgettable. I'm surprised I never heard of this before. Then i guess i'm not the film buff i thought i was. This movie had it all and i was totally engrossed in it.

But in this one the character of cabiria that is more like the tramp from charles chaplin its unforgettable. fellini is a master, love the hypnotization scene
shareThe character of Cabiria was the Italian equivalent of 'The Tramp' She did have a place in the Italian popular culure-- much like a Little Orphan Annie. Do a search and do some reading--it's very interesting.

I'm agree, Giuletta's perfomance as "Cabiria" is one of the best performances ever! not only from an italian actress but by an actress from any nationality.
Masina was simply superb in the role that immortalized her.
Sure, she was also great in "La strada" "Ginger e Fred", "Giulietta degli spiriti", etc. But we'll always remember her as "Cabiria" that lil' tender, dreamy and naïve prostitute.
