Lon Chaney, Jr. casting-:)

I was shocked at the tender age of 13 in '57 seeing the Cagney bio-pic of Lon Chaney, Sr. where a very, preppy debonair, exceedingly handsome Roger Smith waltzed in at the end of the film playing a chip off the old block-type as Chaney, Jr. It reminded me of the preppy roles played on-stage by Bogart before he was cast as Duke Mantee (a guy obvium more handy with a 'chopper' than a tennis racquet in Petrified Forest). Why prettify any Chaney. His chops were his looks not his manners.
