The Tabanga reincarnated...

I picked up the recent direct-to-DVD release of Man-Thing, and whenever the Man-Thing, who is basically a giant humanoid walking tree, came into full view, I thought to myself, "Where have I seen this creature before?"

Then, when the Man-Thing was caught in the firestorm and was more visible, it dawned on me, The Tabanga! Check it out and you'll see the definite resemblance, the scary eyes, the mean mouth, the pointy twigs on it's head, just much more realistic. It even survived the fire like the Tabanga! And this new tree-monster as it appears is how we, watching From Hell It Came as little kids, saw the Tabanga in our minds.
