I have always been a big fan of THE MYSTERIANS. I still prefer its low budget effects over today's overblown CGI, which always looks a bit too neat and clean.

But enough of that.

The only thing that ever bugged me a bit was killing off the giant robot far too soon.

Now, I've heard that there is a print which has a second giant robot appearing during the final battle.

Can anyone confirm this?

And, if so, is it included on the most recent DVD release?

I'd love to see this uncut version.

Personally, I always found it to be a big mistake to show the best so early on, because that can make the later scenes seem somewhat anticlimatic.

Yes. In the Japanese language DVD another Moguera can be seen in the final battle tunneling under a Marcalite but the Marcalite falls in it disabling it. At that point the Marcalites only had a few minutes of power remaining so it was too little too late for the doomed Myterians.

that scene is also on my english dubbed version. I don't remember it when I saw it at the theater. But then that was 55 years ago. one old man's memory aint what it used to be.
