It's very entertaining with strong performances and direction, but I could have used more suspense and less melodrama. 7/10 stars.

I liked the Margaret Lockwood character.

What happened to the housekeeper at the end? Did Edward do something to her, too?

I just saw this movie and really liked it, especially Margaret Lockwood. She was the same actress who, years earlier, starred in Hitchcock's THE LADY VANISHES.

I thought it was entertaining and Dirk Bogarde was delightfully sinister.
