Such overt lesbianism--this movie's a hoot!

Nancy: What I do...what you make me do I feel it's wrong.

Miss Branding: Wrong? Who's the judge of that. There's as much merit to one side as the other. The final result will justify everything.

also

Nancy: I just left Glen my boyfriend. You tried to stop him from seeing me.

Miss Branding:I didn't think that was important.

Nancy:It's the only important thing in my life. I love him.

Miss Branding: I know that...thats why I prevented him from seeing you...At this point in my experiment...OUR experiment...

also

Nancy: What I feel for Glen you'll never understand. I'm asking you to set me free. Don't confuse me any longer with this talk of a big experiment. I know who you are and I know what you've done to me. When I was in his arms instead of feeling what I should I almost killed him.

Miss Branding: It's too late Nancy. We...you and I together...we must go to the end of this experience.

Nancy: But it's horrible what I do. What I've become.

Yep, it definitely has a lesbian vibe. And typically of the time, they die in the end.

I love looking for subtle Lesbianism in old films, especially in Vampire films, but I really didn't see that in this film.

Really? I and many others think it's pretty rampant throughout the film.

Perhaps your gaydar is a bit under the weather. Give it another couple of tries.

I don't know, I have to admit that looking at the lines quoted by the op, they're quite a hoot (as he or she says)!

On the other hand, since they're all out of context, it's hard to say, especially since it's been years since I've watched this thing. (And I'd never noticed anything in the film as being overtly slanted towards lesbianism.)

Along the same lines, I'm really SICK of hearing all these cinema revisionists constantly finding some deep homosexual subtext in "Bride of Frankenstein" that I never saw was there. (And still can't.) Mind you, I realize full well that there were two homosexuals (at least) involved in that film, and certainly Thesiger's performance is somewhat effete (and memorable, and excellent), but to start ascribing the entire underpinning of a classic film to some subliminal homosexual message? Nah...can't happen. People are looking for something that isn't there. (I wonder what homosexual messages Whale included in his version of "Show Boat?" Gee, I should look up its threads on here! lol)

I only mention Bride as an example that it's easy to take things out of context (or even leave them in context with a dollop of wishful thinking) and make a lot out of nothing.

Look hard enough for something, and you'll find it.

Still...standing alone, those are some pretty outrageous lines!
