cant believe this has a 6.2 rating. This is a Mystery Science Theatre type BAD film; 1 of 10, if that. Wow this is bad.
Here is just one of 100's of bad things about it -
towards the end they say "we will be taking you to Washington right away"
then they cut to the UN.
These film makers dont know what city the UN is in? Wow!
I agree. People that think this is good sci-fi have never seen "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" or "2001". This film is just cold-war propaganda wrapped in a space ship.

I agree it's no INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS or 2001, but this is still a fun, suspenseful film, a solid 7/10, IMHO.
Overall I think it was a bit too slow, what's more I had to see it twice since my mom back then was the ticket seller during the Saturday matinee.
The real letdown over all the trailer the wk before was 20 Million Miles to Earth then we we left the movie the poster for next wks matinee was

In any case with my mom working as ticket seller we got to see lots of Saturday matinees.
That house never did show 20mil, didn't see it till a few yrs later
The novel was very good. And as I recall, the movie was pretty good, too. Of course they're pretty much never as good as the book.
