R.I.P. Corporal Reyes
I just found out that Don Diamond died last month . Sigh , he was a great part of my past just like all the other main cast members . He was also the last one of the biggies to die .
I suppose the only other person who used to be a regular ( or semi-regular ) at the beginning and is still with us is Than Wyenn , a.k.a the Licenciado . Apart from him , Suzanne Lloyd and Jolene Brand are the other two cast members that are most associated with the show and are still alive .
As a form of tribute to Don ( and Henry Calvin ) , tell us your favourite Garcia-Reyes moment .
For me it is hard to choose one , but I think that I will go with the auction scene from "Zorro Springs a Trap" at the moment .
Sgt.Garcia : Do I hear one hundred pesos ?
Cpl.Reyes : One hundred and ONE pesos .
Sgt.Garcia : I have a bid of one hundred and one pesos . Any other bids ? I have one hundred and one hundred pesos . Do I hear two hundred pesos ?
Cpl.Reyes : Two hundred and ONE pesos .
Sgt.Garcia : I'm offered two hundred and one pesos . Are there other offers ? I have two hundred and one pesos . Do I hear thr .. Do I hear two hundred and TWO pesos ?
Cpl.Reyes : Two hundred and THREE pesos .
Sgt.Garcia : I'm bid two hundred and three pesos .
Cpl.Reyes : Two hundred and FOUR pesos .
Sgt.Garcia : Would any of you other fine gentlemen like to bid on this animal ? Are you afraid that Zorro will come and take it away from you ? If there are no more bids I will sell the horse to this lancer for two hundred and four pesos .
Cpl.Reyes : Two hundred and FIVE pesos .
Sgt.Garcia : Since there are no more bids , I will sell the horse to this lancer for two hundred .. I will sell the horse to the lancer for what he has already bid .
The two were just one of the finest comedy duos ever . And I'm not surprised that this hilarious scene was written by the Oscar-winning writer of "Mr.Smith Goes to Washington" .
