Conked on the Coconut

From watching Maverick nightly on ENCORE WESTERNS, I have noticed how often Bret and Bart get knocked unconscious from behind. Keeping tabs the first week of episodes alone, I counted one episode in which Bret gets bludgeoned from behind TWICE and another episode in which Bart gets knocked out TWICE by an unseen assailant. You would have thought Bret and Bart would stop roaming around at night. It's inevitable someone is going to zap them in the back of the head.

It's no wonder the boys act a little brain dead, especially when they're around Samantha Crawford!

On tonight's ENCORE WESTERN episode, HOLIDAY AT HOLLOW ROCK, Bret gets knocked on the head on TWO occasions! Also in the cast were:

George O'Hanlon...later the voice of cartoon's George Jetson
Emile Meyer...who played the patriarch in SHANE
William Reynolds...later a regular on THE FBI
Bob Steele...the Warners movie actor of the 1940s who had a tiny bit part here

Which episodes does Bart get knocked on the head? Anyone have a list? I'd especially like to know which one it happened twice in, lol!

I haven't been keeping track of the knocks on the head but just in the past couple of months, Bart has had a noose around his neck 3 times. I don't like that.

"Now are we sure. that this. is what. we want?"

I've "come back" to Maverick a few times over the past 50 years most recently 6-7 years ago when it popped up on the ENCORE Westerns channel. I'm so familiar with the plots that I look for other things like Bart being the victim all too often. How many times have we seen Bart's sheepish, digusted expression after he was hoodwinked or betrayed?

Another is noticing how much of the background music is lifted from Warner's theatrical films of the 1940s, most notably The Big Sleep.
