So many Wally episodes in the last two seasons

I love how Wally had so many episodes about him in the last 2 seasons and even more than Beaver

Yes true, and not only Wally, but also Eddie and Lumpy get a lot of episodes in the last two seasons too.

Although I'm not exactly sure that Wally got "more" than Beaver. Beaver unfortunately still has a whole lot.

But that is a very good thing that they decreased the ratio of Beaver-centric episodes, since Mathers/Beaver is 100% unwatchable in at least 98% of the episodes from the last two seasons.

They should have made every episode of the last two seasons either a Wally episode or an Eddie episode or a Lumpy episode (I'm not a huge fan of Lumpy but even he is way more watchable than is Seasons 5-6 Mathers/Beaver).

Also, Ward-centric or June-centric episode would have been way better than Beaver-centric episodes too.

so true.

beaver got very "gawky" and was hard to look at towards the end. i liked the wally and friends episodes .

By his late middle school years, beaver was really a punk to wally's friends.

Dang I bet at least 70% of viewers became awkward teens as well. It's been decades since I've seen this show but perhaps they could have Targeted this bracket of youth and grown instead of going with the pop idol thing?

Yeah, Beaver wasn't a little kid anymore. He was about as big as Wally and his friends, couldn't be pushed around anymore, could likely beat up Eddie if he wanted to. He had a babysitter in one of his later episodes, which to me seemed ridiculous. The episodes that centered on Wally and his pals were much better than the ones involving Beaver and his. Also Larry wasn't around anymore, and that hurt.

Adorable little Jerry Mathers grew into an unfortunate looking, awkward teen. This made the last two seasons hard to watch. Its not an uncommon phenomenon in TV sitcoms, see Tina Yothers, some of the kids on The Waltons and Little House.

Also, Tony Dow was becoming a teen hearthrob.

reply

poor Tina Yothers, she did not age well.

I've wondered what happened to Larry Mondelo. He could have been another cute kid who grew into an ugly teen.

What was happening in the real world? R&R . There was a new teenage market to play to and Wally &Co just started doing it when the axe dropped on the show (just before the British invasion).

reply

well why not show the handsome one loved his eyes

What?
