Gumby on VHS/DVD
Gumby was a great show, even i remember watching the old show on the ABC. I was wondering if you could buy any of the Original Gumby Episodes on DVD/VHS. Many replies appreciated

this be from wiki.
'Gumby is a green clay humanoid figure who was the subject of a series of television shows totaling 223 episodes over a 35 year period, animated using stop motion clay animation.'
I own the box set and am glad I do, Gumbasia itself is worth it! Mr. Clokey is a hero of mine for that short film alone! But the re-dubbed music drives me CRAZY!!! (in a bad way) I wish they would've just released the original versions. I think the synth driven score ruins this great, great series. Just my opinion...
sharehey unicorn, you dont have to worry about that anymore this coming up fall all the gumby episodes will be released in dvd of course remastered in its original content, including the original soundtrack. ill be definitely keeping and eye out for it ;)
Who's the more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?
I'm not so sure a complete collection will be available soon. So far, it looks like they are just going to give us a sampler containing 15 episodes. It is a common practice to just provide a sampler collection with the possibility that a complete collection would be made available in the future if the sampler set sells well. At least the sampler set is fairly cheap, and I will definately buy it. It's available for pre-order on amazon.com right now, with a slated release of Sep 4.
sharei dunno i read it on an article it was redone with the help of joe clokey
some of the episodes are on youtube now

Actually, In2TV on video.aol.com has a pretty decent selection of remastered Gumby shorts. Last I checked there were 33 total available to watch. However, it has been a while since any were added and it looks like there won't be any more added.
As for the DVD, the Toonzone forums has given all the details. 5 episodes from the 1950's (Robot Rumpus, Too Loo, In the Dough, Rain Spirits, The Racing Game), 5 episodes from the 1960's (The Groobee, Hidden Valley, Ricochet Pete, The Small Planets, Gumby Crosses the Delaware) and 5 episodes from the 1980's (The Wild Horse, The Knight Mare, Goo's Pies, To Bee or Not to Bee, Kid Brother Kids). Bonus features include: Gumbasia, Gumby on the Moon (pilot episode), Gumby bumpers, and the 1960's theme song.
All episodes are remastered with original soundtracks, and the 1950's episodes edited back to their original 11-minute format.
The only thing I have to complain about is that the 1960's episodes with Prickle and Goo have been ignored for this release. Some people may be misinformed, and actually believe these characters never appeared until the 1980's, when in fact they have been part of the show since the 1960's. I know the 1967 episodes are the least popular, but I kinda like them. Not to mention I absolutely loved the music used in these episodes...very catchy tunes. At least one episode with this music will be on the DVD, the 1966 short "Gumby Crosses the Delaware"
