I never really watched the show that much, but I knew the intro song. Who was the old man in the black coat with the white hair? He looked like a mean scary character.

Which intro? The 1960s or 1980s one?

Sounds like the late 1960s Dracula character Doctor Zveegee, first seen in "Prickle's Problem"(Prickle wants to be famous), "Hot Ice:(with the Moon Boggles, two cold, uh, seals who also had their own episode), and "Piano Rolling Blues" (With Gumby's moving co.).

Dr. Zveegee was bald. I'm not sure who the OP is referring to, but it sounds like it's from the '80s intro, since the '60s intro only featured Gumby and Pokey.
