Scene reminded me of Warner Bros Cartoons....
Dana Andrews gaping at Sally Forrest from between the stairwell posts and remarking about 'how nice her legs are' brought back images of those great Warner Cartoons particularly, Sylvester and Tweety, when all you would see of the "owner" via silhouette was her shapely lower body.
