"Years from now, when you talk about this..."

Just saw the film for the first time. That climatic line sounds so familiar: "Years from now, when you talk about this - and you will - be kind."

I'm sure I've heard it before, or variations on it, but no idea where. Has it been parodied in other films or TV?

Badgers? We don't need no stinkin' badgers! But if you could show us something in a nice possum...

Actually, the line was once used towards the end of an episode of Will & Grace where the character Jack was leaving and Grace starts reciting the closing line from Tea and Sympathy, for which at the end, Jack says something like, "You already have one gay husband. You don't need another."

I just finished reading the Robert Anderson play the film was based on. I get the inside joke now. It makes a lot of sense.

Cast Away...It's like Forrest Gump, but on an island.

It is also a memorable line near the end of the movie: "Angels & Demons (2009)".

Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) has just saved the world again (or at least made it safe enough for a new Pope to be introduced to the world, about 5 meters away), and a Cardinal (Armin Mueller-Stahl) says this very same thing to Dr. Langdon. It has nothing to do with "Tea & Sympathy", I assume.

Well I just ran across one such spoof. In the movie "Land of the Lost", Will Ferrell utters the lines to a friendly Tyrannosaurus Rex that just swallowed him and pooped him out.

After a bit of research, here's a couple of others I found, both spoofs:

Kids in the Hall: "When you speak of this, and I know you will, be kind?"

Bull Durham: "Charlie, here comes a deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBUS3vQtDCA)
