Which one to teach??
I need to show a version of "Moby Dick" in my American Lit (high school juniors) class. Thoughts on which version is the best for this?

shareBeyond a doubt, the 1956 version is the way to go. It's not wholly accurate to the novel, but it's well-paced and captures the language and sense of place and time. The 90's USA version is a sloppy job overall, although it does show more characters who are in the book (Fedellah, Ahab's wife). However, it's largely thrill-less and unconvincingly acted.
shareWatch out for the 1930 *Moby Dick*. I'm not sure that it even counts as an adaptation.
