... is the chapter 74 (if I remember correctly) of the book's description, the vision and hearing system of the sperm whale. That is: watching the boats and ships from the point of view of the whale being chased, an animal that needs to turn the whole head and body to watch with one eye placed somewhere equivalent to our ears... while the other eye is watching something completely different and being a huge dark wall in the middle of the vision, it's own head, that is.
