Question re: book vs. movie SPOILERS

****SPOILERS****

In the book, little Pip goes over board and nearly drowns. Once he is rescued, he's no longer the same. He's sort of crazy actually. Captain Ahab identifies with him and takes him into his cabin to stay with him. This was not in the movie. However, they did show Pip acting strangely with his tambourine and such. Did Huston actually film that part and it was edited out or did he choose to leave that episode out of the film entirely?

I loved the film but missed that part of the story as it gave more insight into Captain Ahab's mind set.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Huston was known for filming his screenplays exactly as written; so, no, there probably are no missing scenes.

Thank you!

This is a very unofficial comment, because I have seen it in a long time. It seemed to me that Pip felt (in a voodoo sort of way) that something was not right and boding disaster.
