This film is a lot like...Star Wars!
It seems weird to say it, but it has the same feel, battles, and themes of desperation. The writing is even worse.
I came across this movie entirely by accident and I loved it!
The cinematography was truly outstanding.
The lead actor looks like a more rugged young Jon Voight or Rutger Hauer and he really, really gives some believability to this script that would have been a silly waste on most any other actor. The other actors aren't 1/10th as good, but they have smaller roles and pull it off.
The violent action scenes are top notch.
I watched this assuming it was from 1968 or so, then seeing that it was from 1956 blew me away. The sound is so good I almost couldn't believe my ears. For outdoors dialog in windy canyons, this is truly excellent production.
As a bonus, this movie is stuffed with babes.
The stringy music is a little much for me, but I must be the only one who thought that, as it sounds like Little House on the Prairie ripped their entire soundtrack off this one, at least for the wagon music.
