Goof or passage of time?

Right after the inquest, we see Robert Wagner sitting on a bench reading a newspaper with an Easter advertisement on the back. In the next scene, Ellen is talking on the phone about Thanksgiving. (At least as it appeared on TV). Is this a goof, or did substantial time elapse between the two scenes?

Passage of time. Just after the phone call ends, she opens a box of her sister's personal items that a sorority sister has sent to her. She reads the note inside (from Annabelle Koch, the sorority sister), that apologizes for waiting "these many months" to send the items.
