Loved the book, don't think I want to see either movie w/all the changes

I came here to see if they had made a movie of this book that I loved as I had a vague memory there was one. So now I see there have been two, but both have made major changes to the book that I think would ruin the story for me. I won't get into spoilers because other people have already started topics on this, but the significant characters and plot details this movie left out mean it is not the same story at all. It lacks the richness, the scope, the suspense and the dread of the book. According to posts here it sounds like some of the problem in the film is too obvious telegraphing of what will happen next and who certain people are. The book keeps you guessing for a long time and I swear to God my heart was pounding as I went to turn the last page and see what happened. I almost put the book down for a moment because I was afraid to look!
