Poor truck driver!

In the final scene everybody seemed to have forgotten about the driver lonely suffering in his cab though he's also a human being capable of strong emotions yet nobody came to ease his shock by explaining that his steering reflexes couldn't be better and that in fact he is not a soon to be fired and jailed evildoer but a hero of the day who should be promoted and decorated by all available means.

Moreover it's highly probable that in course further develompent neither uppish father nor his daughter will give a dime to take him out of rutheless hands of justice which makes me feel a bit less merry about the happy end: perhaps my sense of right and wrong would be satisfied better if Ellen get a couple of bruises after the accident:)

I was wondering about the poor guy also. But I think he probably is well rewarded for his part in saving Ellen. By this time, George Macready has shown himself to be somewhat of a decent guy. I would have liked it if the movie at least showed someone, the police or George, patting him on the back and thanking him.
