Roger Corman's life story

I think that, in the right hands, a very interesting and entertaining movie could be made of Mr. Corman's life.
Anyone agree?

Yes!! I have read books on his movies and interviews with him, he is a very interesting person. From what I hear he is tough guy to work with, but a very bright but down to earth person.

I certainly agree. While I never met the man (I only saw him once enter into the New World offices)some of his employees told wonderful -- usually, very funny -- stories about him. I don't know how much they may have embellished or made up.

It would be fun to see him working on those old movies and see manyh of his former employees portrayed by actors (like Frances Coppola, Jack Nicholson and James Cameron to mention a few), see the Paul Blaisdel monsters in color, go through the phases from Poe to Gangsters, War movies to Beach movies, Motorcycle Gangs to Hippies, and around and around.

It would be quite a production.

reply

Yes, exactly. Motion Picture production has gone through a lot of changes since the days of Corman. Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" captured the time very well and preserves it. A movie on Roger Corman could do the same.

Mr. Corman had a lot of nerve. His work was a great combination of art and commerce. Certainly his influence on Francis Coppola -- another terrific movie figure worthy of a bio-pic -- was great.

If "Ed Wood" centered around friendship, "Corman" could be about nerve.

That'd be cool.

Since Hollywood seems to have run out of original ideas a movie about an original like Roger Corman would be a shot in the arm. Imagine, a great story like his sitting around in their own back yard.
