Jayne's Legendary Strut to THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT song

I think the scene where Jayne walks the street and up the stairs to the music of Little Richard's title song "The Girl Can't Help it" has got to be her most legendary scene in movies and one of the most famous movie scenes of alltime, certainly of the 1950's. I think everybody who knows anything about movies is familiar with that scene even if they haven't seen the film.

and don't forget that that strut was parodied in one of the Superman movies (I think it was 3) when the blonde bubble head does the same type strut

i think, if i remember correctly the scene was also parodied by John Waters in Pink Flamingos with Divine strutting through the streets of Baltimore.

Have never seen Pink Flamingos but I believe you are correct as I think I've heard of the homage to it in the film. And John Waters has said many times Jayne was one of his favorite stars.

I remember back when my family first got a vcr in the 1980's I taped THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT and one morning was so bewitched by Jayne's strut I played it over and over until my brother called out from the next room, "how many times you gonna play that damn thing!"

George Burns had a strutting blonde in one of his TV shows. I don't know of it came before or post-dated 'The Girl Can't Help It.'
