I love Jayneee....

This movie pioneered the way rock and roll films reached the masses. Little Richards, the girl can't help it theme itill sounds amazing. As it plays we see Jayne strutting her stuff, as only she could do. I believe Divine based his character on this scene in John Waters "Pink Flamingos". John Waters certainly had this scene in mind as he followed Divine down the street in his car with camera, as Divine left passers by agog with his Jayne Mansfield swagger.
"Ask my agent" is a fantastic line for Jayne, as she plays straight into the hands of her adoring, mostly male, fans. Although most of her fans were gay males, she proves to be a legendary role model for grrrrls with any ounce of style. However, Jayne is still the ultimate pin-up girl for boys and girls of all persuasions.
Stylistically, the movie is what one would expect from a movie with such an amazing cast. Julie London's "Cry me a River" is sung by herself in the role of a glamorous ghost of a past lover, haunting the dreams of a drunken lonely heart. Also, Jaynes outfits are amazingly cartoon.
Watch and be inspired..

"Although most of her fans were gay males"

Are you nuts?? Why would queers like to view Jayne Mansfield, of all people??!
Rock Hudson, I can understand, but Jayne Mansfield?? There's absolutely no logic to your statement whatsoever!

reply

^Jayne does have a very large gay following because of her over the top personality and eccentric fashion style and glamourous persona.

Professional Jayne Mansfield fanatic/lover™ since 1980.

I always thought Gabby Hayes was a delicious gay.

Logic makes no sense, but Anna Nicol Smith was this generation's Jayne.

Jeez!! Don't say that!! Mansfield had more class tnat Smith!!!

^Hah! And how exactly is that? Seems just anything associated with the "classic" era is considered classy/sophisticated, when in fact some of the stars of the time (especially during the 50s "bombshell" obsession) were every bit as trashy both inside and out as the bottomfeeders from today.

Speaking of things over-the-top and trashy, Jane Doe01, I do hope that you realize that your statement is unbelievably judgmental, unbelievably mean and downright unbelievable, don't you?

Queers, as you so elegantly put it, do love Jayne. And Marilyn. And Bette. And Joan. And Lady Gaga. And JLo. And every powerful diva in history. Strong fabulous women have often been inspiring to gay men, who perhaps identified with their struggles and triumphs. Rock Hudson, sure...But even "queers" occasionally have interests other than sex.
