The character actor John Hoyt did die of cancer - but lived a long and professionally active life, and died in 1991.

Pedro Armendariz Jr. passed away from eye cancer today (12-26-2011). Pedro Armendariz Jr. visited his father on the set of THE CONQUEROR when he was 14 years old. http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/notas/818606.html
