So bad, yet I still enjoy watching it!

how could you seriously enjoy a film that is so bad

Agreed, it's bad. Painfully so at times. Yet still I watched, allowed myself to get immersed in the goofy, hokey, cheesily-told story, and in spite of everything still managed to find some albeit small entertainment valute out of it.

I doubte I'll ever sit (suffer) through it again, thus I won't refer to it as a 'guilty pleausre', but I can definitely relate to all those movie lovers who glean enjoyment from otherwise bad films.

This was arguably the worst movie ever made in the 50's.

It wasn't supposed to be made.
The director had discarded the script and left it on his desk. He walked out of the room and came back to find John Wayne reading it. Wayne had a movie on his contract and decided this was the one he wanted to do. The director caved in.
