Stands against time

I have been looking forward to seeing this movie for a long time. It was nearly as inaccessable as Ed Wood, and Double Indemnity, but I finally found it used at a music store. I was not dissapointed.

This is a solid romantic movie, with a great performance by Ms. Monroe, that all of Her fans should view.

Anyone want to voice their opinions on Her second greatest performance?

It was on AMC channel at 5:15 this morning (dammit I forgot to tape it, but I'm sure they'll repeat it someday soon...). If this is her second greatest performance, what do you regard as MM's greatest performance?? (my favorite MM role was as 'the girl' in "The Seven Year Itch", opposite Tom Ewell.)

Bus stop is my favorite MM film, though many like Some Like It Hot. Thats my personal #2. a great film that proved Marilyn could indeed act.
Oh,,, the bittersweet film of course, Misfits. I love the film but it's hard to watch.

Stands against time
Only just, and only because of M.M.'s performance.

I adore this film. Marilyn looks beautiful in it and very endearing. She looks almost childlike when sitting in the window at the start of the movie fanning herself.

No other actress could have played that part.

I would say this does NOT stand against time. The Bo character would have been arrested and put in prison if this was in 2014. I was waiting for someone to shoot this bastard.

Thank you! This might not be a "bad" movie in the usual sense of the term, but man, was it hard to sit through. Beau is one of the most immensely unlikable protagonists I have ever seen! And no way does two minutes of sentimentality at the end make up for his off-putting (and downright despicable) behaviour throughout the rest of the film. I cannot buy this as a romance in the least.

However, I will say that Marilyn Monroe gives a wonderful performance and brought an appreciable amount of depth to her character. I liked Cherie - she was an interesting character. I just wish she had been in a different movie.

The Prince and the Showgirl"--which is the exact opposite of the pale, weary, defeated Cherie in "Bus Stop." She is brilliant in PATS."
