Why don't they make an Around the World in 80 Days Reality Show? They could have people going to all the same locations in the movie using the same transportation in the film. And whoever gets back to London by 80 days wins 5 million dollars.

it's already been done. it was done by the bbc in 88 or 89 with michael palin. it is an INCREDIBLE show and totaled only 6 hours, i think. it's very hard to find, but if you are in the slightest interested in a project like this, it's been done and done right. do yourself a favor and see it.

Yes, the Palin show was great. To clarify, the rules were that he could only use modes of transportation which were available in 1872, but did not have to use the exact same transportation as in the story at each juncture. I recall he easily came in under 80 days.
Of course, at the time the book was first published, intrepid reporter Nellie Bly also did it in less than 80 days.
