DVD from SAE coming 4/12/11
Twilight Time's DVD of Violent Saturday is scheduled to be released by Screen Archives Entertainment on April 12, 2011. It's available for pre-order as of March 22.
This is the second of five widescreen Fox titles acquired by Twilight Time (a terrible label title, IMO) that will be available exclusively through SAE, one per month through July. (The Kremlin Letter is already out, with Fate is the Hunter, Woman Obsessed and The Egyptian due over the next three months.) The label will issue further titles, possibly with greater frequency, depending on the demand for these first five titles. Pressings of each title are limited to just 3000 copies.
A note on the SAE site states that the Violent Saturday DVD is not 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, as the master in the studio's vaults is only a non-anamorphic print. But the film is in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and these DVDs come with extensive notes and other extras, as well as an isolated music score.
Nevertheless, Violent Saturday is so long overdue on any form of home video that it's great to at last have it available.
