Great movie, but dumbest criminals ever


Entertaining crime film, with 50's melodrama thrown in. Reminds me of Jim Thompson's crime novels.

But why did they need to take all those people hostage before going to rob the bank? Dumb plan with plenty to go wrong. Still a good movie though.

They had to wait until the time lock unlocked the safe.

No, mcguitar is talking about the Amishes and Mature in the barn. He's right. And after the caper, they should have run with Mature's car even if signaled to the police, instead of loosing time trying to get their straw loaded truck, but I don't care, good movie.

The civilians weren't too smart either. There were dozens of them hammering at the locked bank door after several shots had been fired. Then they flee in panic when a trio of gunmen appear? What were they expecting?
