shareYes it was - ironicly most of the town still looks as it did in this movie - though it's no where near as Busy. The "extras" are all residents. From what I understood they told people they would be filming, and to just go about their business, which they did. I believe at the time the population of Bisbee in the 1950's was around 20,000. Now it's around 6900.
shareYes it was....When my mom use to live in Bisbee for several years, they always played Violent Saturday (1955) downtown every month!
Unlike many crime movies of the era, Violent Saturday was filmed in color, and on location in Bisbee, Arizona.
That was about the time that Lynne Bracken moved back to Bisbee, along with newcomer-to-town Bud White. I'd like to think that she opened that dress shop she once mentioned to Bud.
shareI used to live near Bisbee too, in the next town over called Douglas. While I was watching the flick today, I even thought to myself, "That town looks REALLY familiar!!" Only in Bisbee do you get blue-blue skies like that.
shareTravelled through Bisbee on the way to a stopover in Douglas. Stayed at the Gadsden hotel.Took a stroll down Mexico way. Every minute in Arizona was like being in the movies. A bit like Yorkshire.
sharethat's a good answer! you refer to LA Confidential, undoubtedly! but Bisbee remains the town that time forgot. sometimes you even think that the same cars are parked on the street that were there in 1955 during Violent Saturday scenes. But, there are no Amish in the area.
