Lee Marvin.

Now here is a mean crook. One of my all time favorite Lee Marvin scenes is early in the film when while casing the bank, he drops his nasal inhaler after a kid bumps into him. The well mannered 50's type kid goes to pick it up for him, and good old Lee steps on his hand! Now that's mean! I love it!

His character was a little different from most of the Marvin career-criminal characters he usually played. This one was mean too, but was also a pessimist and a real worry wart, very nervous.

For another Marvin/Borgnine confrontation, watch their train top fight in "Emperor Of The North".

I also liked his late-night soliloquy about his ex-wife. Another great, nuanced performance by Lee, in a villainous role unlike most of his others. I love that final expression on his face!

I thought it was money the kid was trying to pick up for him. Thanks!
