I agree with Allaby. It's definitely one of the better Williams adaptations, right up there with Streetcar.

If you have hesitation to watch a Burt L film, then don't set yourself up for disappointment.
He should remain a holy cloud above your bed at night.
Did you watch it? I just reread the play. I saw the film in the 90’s and I remember thinking B. Lancaster was woefully miscast as a Sicilian and his accent was laughable.
It was a very sexually explicit play for 1950.
