I Have A Question

Why would Plato carry around an address book? Why would he need to write down the address? Wouldn't he just know where the house was by memory when Jim drove them back to his house after the accident?

Why So Serious?

Possibly just a cinematic device so the audience knows he consciously noted the address.

I thought for a second there that everybody in the '50s carried address books everywhere. Thanks for the answer.

Well I think we can all agree that Plato was not an ordinary boy, and while it's not something you would look at and say 'oh how strange', it does seem like something just enough offbeat that he would do.

Too true.

I think mainly so the gang could find out Jim's address. Plato would likely have been willing to die before giving up info on Jim to the gang.

Even stranger than a kid carrying around an address book is the fact that the gang immediately rifled through his pocket and were pleased they found (and weren't surprised at all to find) an address book.

I saw it in two views.

#1 - is obvious - it allowed the gang to find the address

#2 - I saw it as Plato wanting to keep anything important to him - close to him. By writing down the address and putting it in a pocket close to his heart, it is a symbol of Plato's desire to be cared for and how important that is
