Point of this Film?

Hokey acting, wooden characters, empty plot -- Dean's a pussy, a shameless ham. I watched this expecting to see a tough guy in a leather jacket.

Is this really what passed for tough in 1955 Hollywood?

And what's he bitching about? Seems like he had it pretty good with his family and environment.

Were kids really this spoiled at the time that they got off on this character? I thought unnecessary angst was a 90's motif.

Boy you must've had a bubble family life to not understand what was going on here.

Sounds like you were just expecting a much different film than what it actually was. Not really the movie's fault.

You expected "a tough guy in a leather jacket"? Luckily for you, "Happy Days" is still in syndication.

The tough guy in a leather jacket is Marlon Brando in "The Wild One." This movie isn't about tough. It's about trying to figure how to be a man. It's about figuring out where you fit in, it's about figuring out what kind of person you want to be.
