Favorite line?

This is just one - when the gang starts giving Jim the JD 'new kid' business, he quietly remarks "You read too many comic books." Great historical reference point there, as comic books had recently been declared to be the Big Threat of the Day, inciting kids to delinquency.

That's easy--"You're tearing me apart!" Dean was such a good actor that u could feel the pain and anger loud and clear. It could have seemed funny if a lesser actor had said it.

Not my fave, but always makes me laugh: "remember how I almost died giving birth!". I've known a few moms who said stuff like that, lol.

thanks for the historical reference regarding the comic book line. i never understood that comeback until now.

i don't really see this movie for having classic memorable lines with the exception of Dean's line 'you're tearing me apart' as another poster mentioned.

but i will say Natalie Wood's most powerful line was 'he doesn't like my friends. he doesn't like one thing about me. he called me a dirty tramp. my own father!'

"We deal in lead, friend."

In an interview, Corey Allen thanked the writer for giving him the/best line he ever had as an actor. Just before the chickie run Buzz tells Jim "I like you". Jim replies "Why this?" referring to chickie run. Buzz replies "You gotta do something, don't you".
This was probably the most psychologically and sociologically insightful line in the film.

"He was always cold." Gets me every time I see it.
"What does he know about man alone." Plato's comment to Jim at the observatory.
