Man, the scene where Eva (Joan) slaps Jen was hysterical and scary! Jen is prattling on how wonderful the news of Betsy's marriage and then the look of sheer hatred on Joan's face as she slaps the sh*t out of her. Joan really slapped the actress with ALL her might. That musta hurt!
What I want to know is.....how many of you out there would have reacted the same way when Eva/Joan slapped Jennifer?
Would you have covered your face in your hands and cried like Jennifer, or would you have kicked Eva's A$$ right there on that staircase!
I know it's only a movie, with fictitious characters; but there was something about that slap that was just a little too real to me!
Now I know the directors, of course, would not have let Joan really slap that actress.....but I don't know...she looked a little too stunned to me as if she had really been slapped!
Anyways....in a real life scenario, I would have beat the $h!t out of Cousin Eva, and then packed my bags and left with a BIG SATISFIED SMILE ON MY FACE!!!

According to a few on these boards (who, I'm, sure, know more about Joan Crawford than I do) that slap WAS real! What's funny is, I'd never seen Queen Bee before today, and just before I read that post I saw the "slap" scene, and I noted how Jennifer's hand shook as she drew it to her face after the slap - I thought "what an actress!"
I thought the slap was hee-lair-ee-us! And justified. 1) Jen was waaay too giddy, babbling like a loon. 2) Jen was exulting in what she knew was Eva's defeat- while Eva's pain was fresh and standing rightthere.
